Qualifications of a Co-Pastor

There has been a lot of interest lately in the official role of a Co-Pastor. Many of our churches already function this way, either with a husband-and-wife team, or another associate pastor that is serving in a co-leadership way alongside the Lead Pastor.

Foursquare now has an official Co-Pastor appointment designation. Below you will find the requirements for a Co-Pastor. Additionally, there is a “Foursquare Co-Pastor Frequently Asked Questions” Document, Appendix A, and a Co-Pastor Decision Tree.

The Co-Pastor role requires Board approval. If you have a person, either a spouse or another team member, serving in co-leadership role that you would like to have officially designated as a Co-Pastor, please reach out to a member of the Northwest District Supervisory Team or Administration. We can talk you through the parameters, how it impacts the Lead Pastor’s appointment, and dialogue together whether this is the right fit for your church.
